Full Time Freelance – Fixed term

 

We are looking for a talented Character Designer to join our team and bring amazing characters to life contributing to the visual identity of our games. This freelance role offers the opportunity to work on both original concepts and established IPs, playing a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of our games.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Character Creation: Design engaging characters, including heroes, enemies, and NPCs, both original and adapted from existing IPs, following guidance from the Art Director and input from the game design team.
  • Visual Style Collaboration: Partner with the Art Director and Art Leads to define and maintain the project’s visual style, ensuring that all character designs, particularly those from well-known IPs, adhere to the highest quality standards.
  • Evolve Established Characters: Elevate the visual identity of existing characters by creating innovative designs that honor their legacy while introducing fresh, creative elements.
  • Design Iteration: Develop and refine character concepts within production timelines, ensuring that your designs are both visually impactful and practical for the game’s needs.
  • Alternate Character Designs: Create alternate skins and variations for established characters, adding to the visual diversity and appeal of the game’s character roster.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Character Modeling, to ensure your designs—especially those involving established characters—are seamlessly integrated into the production pipeline and meet all technical requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Photoshop or similar design software.
  • Strong creative vision and exceptional character design skills.
  • Experience in creating stylized to semi-stylized character designs.
  • Ability to iterate quickly and refine concepts effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
  • Passion for video games and character design.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong 3D modeling skills.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Experience working with known IPs and adapting existing character designs.
